     Lauren Hope is a ceramic artist, educator, and studio practitioner whose work explores the intersection of sculptural form, functional objects, and material investigation. Hope creates ceramic works that have been exhibited in local and national exhibitions. In addition to ceramics,  her interdisciplinary practice includes analog photography, with an emphasis on portraiture, landscape, and experimental film processes.

    As an educator, Lauren Hope is dedicated to fostering technical excellence, creative inquiry, and inclusive learning environments. She has designed and taught ceramics courses ranging from beginning to advanced wheel throwing and hand building at the Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design, The Morean Center for Clay, Cider creek Collective, Pinellas County Schools, Charlie Parker Pottery, and The Hive Community Clay. Her teaching integrates traditional ceramic techniques with contemporary practices, material research, glaze chemistry, kiln technologies, and art historical perspectives while encouraging students to develop confident and meaningful artistic voices. 

    Lauren Hope is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with High Honors from Eckerd College and an Associate of Arts in Ceramic Arts with Honors from Mendocino College.  

   Through both her studio practice and teaching, Hope is committed to advancing ceramics as a contemporary art form that bridges craftsmanship, material knowledge, and conceptual exploration.

  My work draws parallels between the ceramic vessel and film photographs that are informed by symbolism, analog processes, and experimental exploration. Each vessel is wheel-thrown, sculpted, and meticulously altered by hand. The forms are intricately incised and carved with rhythmic, repetitive striations that emphasize texture, gesture, and the trace of making.

  The creative process is deeply meditative, restorative, and cathartic, functioning as a space for reflection and transformation. Through an intuitive dialogue with clay, the vessels emerge as repositories of memory, imagination, and personal symbolism.

Using multiple-exposure photography, these sculptural forms are activated within ecologically grounded landscapes, acquiring a sense of movement and vitality. Their enigmatic narratives unfold across dreamlike environments where object and image converge, dissolving distinctions between the tangible and the ephemeral. By weaving together ceramic practice and photographic experimentation, My work  invites contemplation of the interconnected relationships between material, memory, and environment, while exploring the ways transformation can occur through both making and seeing.
